The Department of Defense has identified 3,504 American service members who have died since the start of the Iraq war. It confirmed the death of the following Americans yesterday:

JOHNSON, William C., 22, Pvt., Army; Oxford, N.C.; First Infantry Division.

PAYNE, Cameron K., 22, Pfc., Army; Corona, Calif.; First Infantry Division.
